Who Catalyst Scholars Serves
Catalyst Scholars is for students who:
Are prepared to commit sustained effort to a serious project
Welcome rigorous feedback
Value depth over speed
Seek intellectual growth alongside academic distinction
Enrollment is intentionally limited to preserve the integrity of the mentorship experience.
Our Mentors
Catalyst mentors are PhD candidates and postdoctoral scholars selected for both academic distinction and mentorship capability. Each mentor is vetted for clarity of thought, communication skill, and the ability to guide secondary school students through advanced material with rigor and care.
We maintain a selective network to preserve quality, attention, and alignment.
The Process
Catalyst Scholars is built around intentional mentorship and sustained intellectual engagement. Every placement is curated, and every step is guided.
1. The Catalyst Match™
Each student begins by completing the Catalyst Match™ assessment — a structured intellectual profile designed to understand research interests, working style, academic readiness, and mentorship preferences.
2. Personal Strategy Meeting
After reviewing the assessment, our Director of Research meets personally with the student — and parents, if desired — over Zoom.
In this conversation, we refine the research direction, clarify goals, and identify the level of rigor and ambition appropriate for the student. This step ensures the project is both intellectually meaningful and realistically scoped.
3. Curated Mentor Placement
Based on the assessment and initial conversation, the Director of Research selects the mentor best aligned with the student’s academic interests and temperament.
The Director of Research attends the first meeting between student and mentor to establish expectations, structure, and shared clarity around goals.
4. Weekly Research Mentorship
Student and mentor meet weekly for one-on-one sessions. Together they refine the research question, engage primary and secondary sources, develop methodology where appropriate, and move through iterative drafting and revision.
5. Structured Milestones & Oversight
Throughout the program, we schedule milestone check-ins based on the length of enrollment. These reviews ensure the project maintains intellectual depth, steady momentum, and high standards of clarity and originality.
Catalyst Scholars remains actively engaged from the first question to the final submission.
Take the next step with a leading research mentorship program and start your independent research for high school students with expert support.
